This Level 4 Programme will use all the learnings you have gained from the previous levels (Levels 1-3) of Te Reo Māori and develop them even further. Our safe, encouraging, immersive, bilingual, and interactive programme will support you as you begin the final part of the New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo (Reo Rua) Level 4 moving towards full-immersion learning.
In Level 4, you will develop a greater understanding of the Māori culture while you practice and build confidence in your Māori language skills. Learn alongside others at the same level and have fun while you’re doing it.
In this programme you’ll learn further sentence structures and practice putting all Te Reo Māori sentence structures you have learnt into use in a range of formal and informal situations. You will be able to explain and practice tikanga Māori as well as learning a range of waiata and karakia.
When you finish the course, you will have the confidence to advance into full-immersion learning in the Diploma Level 5 level.

Upon successful completion of the Level 4 programme, you will have completed the intermediate programme of study and be eligible to receive the following qualification:
³첹:&Բ; Distinguish and understand the A and O categories and ask and answer questions about ownership.
³첹Բ:&Բ; Articulate ideas on a range of subjects including names, objects and giving directions, comparing objects and people, and describe varying degrees of quality.
ܲ: Use stative sentence structures with tense markers about present, past and future action, and join ideas to form coherent sentences and use varying forms of ‘and’.
He aha ki tua? Speak about events in the future using ‘when’ and using warnings in appropriate contexts and be able to demonstrate understanding of oral traditions, practices, and their significance.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
School Leaver
Applicants should be a minimum of 16 years of age (unless an exemption from attending school has been granted) at the commencement of the programme. An exemption from attending school may be granted by a person designated under sections 21 or 26 of the Education Act 1989, by a school principal from a school in which the prospective tauira is registered, or by the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Education. In addition applicants should have successfully completed the NZ Certificate in Te Ara Reo Māori (He Pi Ka Rere) (Level 2) programme of study or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.
English Language Requirements
Applicants, whose first language is not English, or who come from a country where the language of instruction in schools is not English, are required to provide evidence of having achieved one of the following:
NCEA Level 3 with University Entrance, or
an International Baccalaureate Diploma or Cambridge A- level qualification for which the teaching and assessment was conducted in English; or
Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA), or Trinity College London Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL); or
Successful completion of all primary education (being the equivalent of New Zealand primary school years 1 to 8) and at least three years of secondary education (being the equivalent of three years from New Zealand secondary school years 9 to 13) at schools in either New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States one of the countries listed in Rule 18.5 where the student was taught using English as the language of instruction; or
Successful completion of at least five years of secondary education (being the equivalent of New Zealand secondary school years 9 to 13) at schools in either New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States where the student was taught using English as the language of instruction; or
Successful completion of a Bachelor ‘s Degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Bachelor Honours degree, Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters’ Degree or Doctoral Degree, the language of instruction of which must be in English and which must be from a tertiary education provider from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom or the United States or
Successful completion of one of the following internationally recognised proficiency tests listed below to the level required of the programme of study and with all scores achieved in a single test during the two years preceding the proposed date of enrolment.
