This qualification is intended for people with prior knowledge of hairstyling and colouring tasks and basic hair cutting techniques, who wish to develop skills and knowledge to become a professional hairstylist.

Graduates will be recognized by industry as professional hairstylists, able to provide integrated fashion services, and capable of operating under broad guidance.

Course Content

PERS4201 Professional Stylist Attributes 
Aim: Develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to understand the intersection between personal and professional self, and communicate effectively in the hairdressing industry.

PERS4202 Sculpture 
Aim: Develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to perform foundation scissor cuts, razor and clipper services on a diverse range of clients. 
 
PERS4203 The Art of Advanced Hair Design 
Aim: Develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to perform advanced hair design using wet and dry styling.  

PERS4204 Reformation Designs 
Aim: Develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to perform reformation services on a variety of hair types.

PERS4205 Advanced Colour Design 
Aim: Develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to make informed decisions and carry out advanced colour and decolouring services.

PERS4206 Fashion Colour and Sculpture 
Aim: Develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to perform a range of fashion colouring and cutting.

PERS4207 Advanced Client Journey 
Aim: Develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to work in a professional hairdressing context.

PERS4208 Advanced Grand Finale 
Aim: Develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to synthesis learning to present avant-garde styles to a professional hairdressing standard.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

  1. Provide client consultation, diagnosis, care and advice to establish a plan for future hair treatment services and home haircare as a professional hairstylist.
  2. Apply hairdressing theory and practice to safely and professionally complete a broad range of integrated, current fashion services to meet client requirements, including cutting, styling, colouring, colour correction, and chemical reformation.
